The Second American Revolution, Is it time yet?

In the 2006 elections. The American people elected the democrats to office. With majorities in both houses for one reason. To end the Iraq War. Last week they had a chance to take the first step in doing so. They failed. In fact it seems they conspired against the will of the people.

In case you believe the malarkey being spewed by the House Rules Committee about the rule vote yesterday not really being the vote to give President Bush a blank check, take a look at the Washington Post and the Associated Press today. I reported this at the beginning of the day yesterday and was then criticized by House Rules Committee Chairwoman Louise Slaughter (D-NY). Now, though, it seems at least some major news organizations have caught on that I was exactly right.
Here’s the thing… We knew the dems would not have a veto proof majority. That’s OK. Loosing to Bush on a veto when you stand tall and represent is honourable. Having closed door meetings where you conspire against those who elected you is pathetic.
Here’s the Associated Press:
“In a highly unusual maneuver, House Democratic leaders crafted a procedure that allowed their rank and file to oppose money for the war, then step aside so Republicans could advance it.”
And here’s the worst part of it all - Democrats are now bragging about it. Not only have they sent out a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee fundraising email attempting to confuse voters by claiming with a straight face that they really stood up to President Bush. But most insulting of all, they are actually running to reporters to pat themselves on the back for engineering a procedural pirouette designed to confuse the public.
Susan at the Head On Radio Network said the following;
The American voter isn’t stupid. We understand about not having the votes to override a veto. We understand!
What we will NEVER understand and will NEVER forgive is the betrayal of the American people by the Democratic party. You were put in Congress for one basic issue–get us out of Iraq. Instead you funded it.
It’s a great Op Ed. It sums things up beautifully.
Is it time yet? I ask this question very seriously! The American democracy was hijacked in 2000 by voter fraud, hackable voting machines, and the Supreme Court! I thought that would be enough! But no.
Now we find ourselves in a never ending war. Unjustified, Illegal, Dangerous, not to mention we were lied into it! Many saw through the bullshit before it started and screamed, “Where is the debate! The W.M.D. claims are false! Why Iraq? They didn’t attack us!”
The current administration is criminal. It’s illegitimate. And the Vice President is profiting off the war directly!
Our once free nation is now a police state. Does a national I.D. make you feel safer?

We the People of these United States elected the democrats into office to represent our overwhelming desire to end this criminal escapade! Now you have betrayed us! The time is now for a Second American Revolution! I for one believe we have little other choice given the state of things.













I think there’s not enough people paying attention yet who would really participate in a revolution. People are just living their lives and watching American Idol.

Dems have always been good at downplaying explosive situations but they are not even better than the Republicans. All they want is the oil from Iraq to amortize their military spendings. The system is broken and runs into a vicious circle: war - oil - war - oil - war - oil.

To be perfectly frank, I wish our leadership had the vision to end this “War for Oil” situation. I’d rather our service men and women were available for real threats. Not to ensure Oil Co. Profits. We’ve loaned our economy to China, Are so depedent on Middle Eastern Oil, we are living on borrowed time.
There has to be another way.

Very well said. Yes, it’s moving towards a tipping point.
However, while a huge majority is increasingly aware and frustrated, there is not yet the activism of the 60s and 70s (or 1770s). (Were there a universal draft, this would have been over by now.)
The NeoCons have simply overrun all opposition; every week there’s another atrocity, worse than before. The list of crimes is endless.
And beating up Democrats is too easy — from left and right — that is the problem. There is a huge disconect between the grass-roots activists in the states, and the professional politicians at the national level.
Even our normally good, competent Legislators, do not see the crisis as we do. Some have sold their soul, bought off by a financial need to keep their chosen career; others simply accept the system of “get along to get along.”
Meanwhile, as long as the fundamental root of the NeoCon MidEast Invasion, Conquest and Occupation is “World Empire Based on Oil,” we’re resisting the wrong war, asking to “Bring the Troops Home.”
Now that the “14 Perminent Bases and Fortress Embassy” are in place, and Iraq is in ruins; ain’t no way in hell, they’re leaving the oil behind. Republicans AND Democrats both know that. Won’t happen, unless we regain the reins of power.
Fact is the US (economic, miltiary, social, international) resources are being ravaged like any occupied colony, by these invading self-serving scoundrels.
A Second Revolution? I now fear that it may come to that. We have maybe two elections left. Even now (see 2006) we need a super-majority to overcome “machine- and system-bias.”
While some leading-edge progressives burn-out, many more are at last waking up, realizing the problem, filling the ranks. (Duhhh,like how obvious need it be?).
As the time comes, true Patriots must again find the ways to act, the functional levers of power to pull. And those who won’t lead, must be bypassed; citizens MUST regain control.

The French had a military presence over there and the US took over. Djibouti is one of the worse climates on Earth with 130 degrees temperatures and crazy humidity.

PATRIOTISM
Patriotism is loyalty and duty. Duty is what we owe, and loyalty is duty fulfilled. Few people speak of patriotism except during periods of war or approaching war. If patriotism were strictly adhered to in times of peace, there would be no war. War is arrogant powers on a rampage of destruction, mostly due to the personal shortcomings of those appointed to keep the peace. The act of war is among the least patriotic of all things.
Patriotism is a matter of every day concern. Duty to country can only be fulfilled by duty to our neighbors. The essence of this is found in the Golden Rule. Claims of patriotism without observing this rule bear watching.
Patriotism can be real or counterfeit. The counterfeiters are often shrewd, and hide under a cloak of patriotism; they must be distrusted and kept under a watchful eye. To be really patriotic is to be loyal to Truth and right. One who is not loyal is not really patriotic.
FREEDOM
Real freedom comes by the practice of wisdom. Many think themselves free because they are controlled by their desires and conscious of their volitions, but ignorant of the cause by which they are led to wish and desire.
No persons are free who are not master of themselves. There is freedom to do what one likes, but a better freedom is in doing what one should. For those who are able, there is freedom to pursue their own good in their own way. Some are not fit to be free, and they never will really be free. Freedom is a curse to people who do not have self-control, or True courage. One must have knowledge and practice wisdom in order to be free and keep out of trouble and danger.
The only real freedom is justice, and only those who can think for themselves are likely to attract it to them. If we let others think for us we are followers. We are free to bargain with our time, talent, and labor. Our freedom only lasts if we make good bargains with each other.
GOVERNMENT
Government is the administration of law. Good government depends upon good laws, good administration, and good people to be administered to. It must begin in the home, for it is difficult to make good laws for bad people.

The purpose of the state is to free its members from fear that they may live and act with security without injury to self or neighbor. Everyone desiring such liberty is duty bound to see that it is granted and become a party to it. The penalty for the good not taking a greater interest in government is to be governed by the bad.
History teaches that it is not difficult for bad people to rise to positions of power within government. History also teaches the consequences of bad leadership; war, human suffering, and mass chaos ensues until the capable and good return the government to a path of Truth.

Don’t underestimate the numbers that realize this is a one party system that has been throwing around little issues to create the illusion of two parties. The world has changed, both in the U.S. and globally — and so have the methods for realizing just how many there are.
This coup was carefully constructed and Bush & co. aren’t bungling idiots like they pretend. The press is controled so that they can create the illusion of majority but they have never had the ‘majority’ and that’s grown, dramatically, since then. Hillary changed her tune, despite having the largest coffer when she realized she had no one on the grass root level.
Democrats are committed to performing public political suicide. That’s nothing new. The only public benefit the Bush admin. can claim has been so many people have lost their innocence about the political machine controlling this country — there just is no party or any other was to express it.
Right now, all it would take is the fuse. Maybe the Democrats have brought it one step closed to being lite. I sure hope so.
I think there were enough people to riot over the 2000 decision except it was so unbelievable. People have been in the streets with the largest demonstrations this country has ever seen, they just weren’t broadcast.
What will it take?

You’re right. Massive numbers increasingly recognize the situation. I know few who don’t, and they’re okay — beyond hope.
And they’re not bungling-idiots– however, I think as “bullies” they have no guts, bluffing and hiding when challenged.
As you suggest the fuse was set in place last week. All it will take is the right spark, at any time. Invading Iran would likely do it — I pray it’s before that.
And I think you’re right, it’s a “world” problem, not just the US. Certainly the international US-Brit-Saudi Political-Military-Industrial Coalition knows no national bounds.
They feed off of oil, death and destruction. Every bullet and bomb wasted, is bucks to their pocket. And from the Iraq corruption, they’ve amassed billions (with $100-billion more now approved).
It’s huge, growing stronger, week after week.
