What If…?

Don’t Panic, this is satire, but it makes it’s point!
Israel Attacks US
By Jerry Ghinelli
07/27/06 “Information Clearing House’ — – The government of Israel today launched a massive air assault on suspected terrorist targets along coastal cities of the United States of America. Termed operation Just Reward II, hundreds of Israeli fighter jets streamed across the [...]

In defence of the French

Quite so - or should I say touche (excuse the accentless e).
I don’t really understand the US’s anti-French thing - didn’t France play an important role in US History? Perhaps the US should return the statue of Liberty (the neocons have drained it of all meaning anyway) and rename Baton Rouge Red Stick
From Idiot [...]

Morality is not on our side

By Ze’ev Maoz for Haaretz
There’s practically a holy consensus right now that the war in the North is a just war and that morality is on our side. The bitter truth must be said: this holy consensus is based on short-range selective memory, an introverted worldview, and double standards.
This war is not a just war. [...]

Tel Aviv: Thousands Rally against War

These are the most courageous peace proponents on the planet - all several thousand of them have of course, been labelled “left wing activists” rather than “people who don’t like children being slaughtered in their name”:
Thousands march in Tel Aviv to protest Lebanon fighting, call on soldiers to refuse taking part in war. Clashes [...]

Israel using White Phosphorus weapons

If you were this child’s mother would you be able to forgive?

Uk’s defence of the indefensible slipping

The Observer - Britain dramatically broke ranks with George Bush last night over the Lebanon crisis, publicly criticising Israel’s military tactics and urging America to ‘understand’ the price being paid by ordinary Lebanese civilians.
The remarks, made in Beirut by the Foreign Office minister, Kim Howells, were the first public criticism by this country of Israel’s [...]

Blair: The poodle with two masters (but one agenda)

The fortunes of New Labour and News Corp have always been entwined, but just how closely is now emerging. The Observer can reveal the extraordinary efforts Blair and Murdoch make to conceal their relationship, even arranging clandestine meetings abroad because the tycoon regarded Downing Street as too public. Also clear for the first time is [...]

UK & US join Israel in Preventing G8 ceasefire resolution

Also from the Guardian - George Galloway:
Imagine that Lebanon destroyed every bridge in Israel, blew up the international airport, seized the airspace and turned it into a free-fire zone, blockaded the ports, severed every arterial road and ordered people to leave their homes, then bombing them to pieces when they did. Do you think any [...]

A protracted colonial war

Tariq Ali in The Guardian:
In his last interview - after the 1967 six-day war - the historian Isaac Deutscher, whose next-of-kin had died in the Nazi camps and whose surviving relations lived in Israel, said: “To justify or condone Israel’s wars against the Arabs is to render Israel a very bad service indeed and harm [...]

Loewenstein on Lateline

As well as featuring Antony and his book My Israel Question, Lateline ran segments on the terrible devastation in Lebanon, a heart-breaking phonecall with an Australian Lebanese woman currently trapped over there with her two young daughters and the fears of the Australian Lebanese community for their friends and family. This set the context really [...]

Loewenstein’s One-Two Punch!

Antony Loewenstein has two pieces in the Australian Media Today. Both are worth reading.
First in Murdoch’s Australian:
Antony Loewenstein: Deadly double standards sow terror
ISRAEL is fighting on two fronts and against two forces it helped create. Hamas and Hezbollah gained their political capital by resisting Israeli occupation in Palestine and Lebanon. The past decades have [...]

Israel’s bloodlust claims 15 children

This is Israel’s idea of a “terrorist”. At the last count Israel has slaughtered 104 Lebanese people - 100 of them were civilians, 15 of them were children incinerated in a van that was trying to flee.
Robert Fisk:
07/16/06 “The Independent” — -It will be called the massacre of Marwaheen. All the civilians killed by the [...]
